It’s Just Fun

Arguably, the most famous optical illusion in existence. Do you see a young lady or an old woman?

Make A Play Ground Out of Your Mind

Were there ever times when you felt like your mind was really lazy, like you just didn’t want to think? That can happen even to the most critical thinkers, the busiest or smartest people around.

Or have you ever felt your brain going empty while doing nothing, while standing in line at the super market or Movie Theater, or any other boring situation, like lying flat on your bed? What a complete waste of time (and of course, brain matter). Here are a couple of things to do while you’re feeling bored and stuck.

When faced with a blank slate, try turning your mind into one huge playground. Not only does that save you from boring lectures, lines and mindless situations, you get to stimulate your mind (avoiding brain rust!) in a fun way. And what’s better? Since it’s all in your mind, you don’t need pens, papers or other materials, and you can save yourself from the embarrassment of doing something really silly.

    - Write a poem, or a silly rhyme. The topic? It doesn’t really matter.
    - Look around you. Make stories about the people around you, or create imaginary conversations for other people. (Be careful, you might absentmindedly mutter aloud. Who knows what the person standing next to you will think.)
    - Construct conversations between two very far off and unrelated people, say Super Man and Ghandi.
    - Relive five of the greatest moments of your life. Recall as much detail as you possibly can.
    - Try inventing new words. Remember JRR Tolkein and the Lord of the Rings?
    - Think about your body, and imagine having one in the perfect form.
    - Think of yourself as a product. How would your jingle sound?
    - Imagine yourself as the character of the last movie you saw (or your favorite movie), and relive the scenes in your head.
    - Think about the best image/picture that you have ever seen. Think about it vividly.
    - Think about your dream house, imagine the rooms, the furniture, the lay out, the floor plan, the works!
    - Think about other mind flexing activities that you can do during your next idle time.

Some other ideas here may be silly, but as far as it goes when you do them, you are squeezing out creative juices from your mind. Isn’t that a great way to make the most out of your time?
